The childrens examples below are aged between 5 years
and 9 years old. This is an afterschool class based on the 8 week
workshop.
All children paint the same project, as I have between 10-15 children
in each class.
Volcano
Fantasy: The students voted on painting a volcano. I took this
opportunity to teach them about glazing. There are many glazing
layers of cadmium red volcano overyellow and white paint. They
did the smoke from the volcano with their fingers.
The paintings are acrylic on a 16" x 20" canvas, the
girls added a pegasus and the boys a terradactyl.
Beach
Scene with tree: This painting even though it may look easy,
has been the most challenging I have done with children. It required
them using a liner brush, getting the paint to the right consistency.
Rainforest
painting number one: I love doing rainforests with the children.
I get a real kick out of watching them progress along in these
ones. During all my classes I try and add information about
environmental issues and hopefully inspire them to be little
wildlife and environmental warriors.
The
reference material for this painting was brought in by one of
my adult students. It was from a magazine, I thought it would
be a great one for the children to do.
